Passport Admissions, a small company that helps students apply to college and graduate school, is hiring editors. We’re looking for English majors, staunch grammarians, and word wizards who love to help students with the most personal essays they’ve ever written. It’s a rewarding but demanding job.
Then, we’re looking for you.
Founded in 2007, Passport Admissions is a young company that provides support for its students throughout the admissions process, everything from picking schools to writing essays to preparing for interviews. You will join a small band of passionate people who work together to help students one-on-one and over the internet to edit their essays for the admissions process.
We believe that the admissions process is inherently unfair and that the vast amount of information put out by different schools makes the process disorienting. Passport works to spread good information to the community about the admissions process, while working to get its clients into great schools.
Owner/operator Rob Humbracht has worked in the standardized test/admissions field for over 15 years. He regularly presents at high schools around San Diego and for student groups at UCSD, SDSU, and USD. Passport is a small but growing company, and this position will be an incredible opportunity for the right person.

If you’re interested in becoming an editor, please complete the following next steps in the application process:
1. Upload your resume and cover letter (hint: the more specific the cover letter, the better), and respond to five short questions about yourself and the position.
2. After you submit Part 1, you will be given a link to a Google doc containing two sample essays for you to critique and edit. Instructions at the top of the document are critical; read them well. Limit your time to 30 minutes, so please do not begin this task until you have time to complete it.
Note: We will not review applications until both parts are completed.
Please do not call, email, hit us up on LinkedIn, or try to bribe us about the position. We will contact you if we would like to interview you.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
