Road to Residency: From DO Student to Dermatology Resident

We sat down with one of our newest Passport advisors, Dr. Kyra Diehl, to talk about her path from DO student to dermatology resident, what worked, what didn’t, and what she learned about residency applications along the way.

The conversation goes well beyond dermatology. Kyra talks about ERAS, interviews, away rotations, building connections, and the parts of the process students sometimes treat casually but probably shouldn’t.

Because by the time residency programs are reading your application or meeting you on interview day, they are not just asking, “Is this person qualified?” They are asking, “Do we want this person here?”
