Born in India but raised in the Bay Area, Param's academic career took him to the warm beaches of San Diego for college. Though he wishes he probably spent less time studying and more time surfing, graduating with a BS in Bioengineering led him to spend most of his time at the library. Legend has it you can still see his shadow haunting the second floor at 2:00am.
As much as he loved bioengineering, Param found himself longing for contact from something other than a machine. Whether it was through his fraternity on campus (Lambda Chi Alpha), as an RA working with younger students, or mentoring younger students as a TA, he always enjoyed sharing his life experiences and advising his peers. Building these strong, personal relationships with other students is what ultimately led him away from bioengineering and into the field of medicine and motivated him to become an advisor at Passport, to help students along the arduous path to medical school.
Outside of the classroom, Param is a sports fanatic. Whether watching every 49ers, Giants, and Warriors game, or playing beach volleyball, basketball, or even Spikeball, Param loves to compete and root for his teams.
