Paloma Garcia

  • Editor for students applying to college

Paloma was born in Los Angeles and lived in three countries while growing up: Mexico, USA and France.  As a result, she speaks fluent English, Spanish, and French, and is a self-declared grammar freak in all three. She studied Business Administration in Mexico City, started her own successful business at the age of 22, and went on to sell it two years later. Her newest venture has brought her to San Diego, where she is thrilled to have found Passport Admissions.

Paloma is an avid reader and has been since falling in love with Harry Potter as a child.  She developed an eye for grammar, sentence structure, and spelling at a young age with the help of her grandmother, who owned an elementary school in Mexico City.  She won several short story contests in grade school, and has recently begun putting a Mexican spin on her childhood influences (say hello to Guillermo Potter!)

Maybe she inherited the teaching gene from her grandmother, because while Paloma may have studied Business Administration, she loves teaching – she is currently working as a special needs teacher for elementary school kids. Over the years she has tutored her friends and classmates in English, Spanish and math.  More recently, she started helping friends and family edit and polish their admissions essays, which earned her quite a reputation as her friends and family got into top colleges and earned several major scholarships. #totesamaze #shouldhavechargedthem #justkidding

In her free time, Paloma loves listening to interesting podcasts such as This American Life, Invisibilia, and Snap Judgment. She also likes to play tennis, do yoga, and let’s face it – GAME OF THRONES!
