Kristina Van De Goor
Advisor for students applying to medical school
Attending: Undecided. Accepted: USC, UC Davis. Waitlisted: UCSD. Waiting to hear after her interview: Harvard, UCLA.
Kristina was born and raised in Northern California. She grew up loving the outdoors and takes every opportunity she can to go backpacking, kayaking, or skiing. Her most recent adventures include backpacking the Pacific Crest Trail and ascending Half Dome. As an avid dog lover, she was disappointed that her 2-year-old boxer, Brady, was unable to join her on these trips but luckily there are many more to come!
Kristina graduated Summa Cum Laude from UC San Diego where she double majored in biochemistry and psychology. During college she pursued her many interests and took on roles as an ER volunteer, outdoor wilderness guide, research assistant in stem cell therapeutics, mentor to underserved youth, and president of her organization. Nevertheless, she always made sure to carve out time for the beach!
Kristina had tremendous success in the application process and currently holds acceptances from USC and UC Davis (and is waiting to hear back from other schools such as Harvard and UCLA). Kristina is now back in San Francisco working as a medical scribe at UCSF and as a private tutor for high school and college STEM students. With over 6 years of experience as a tutor, Kristina has learned to adapt her teaching strategies to complement each students’ unique learning style and is excited to help pre-meds navigate the often times stressful but rewarding medical school application process.
