Former Student - Bishop's High School

"The college admissions process is extremely difficult and stressful. There are countless essays, short answers, and statements to write. Before I found Passport Admissions, I really struggled. I would rewrite my essays countless times, never knowing if I was really improving. But then I started working with Passport Admissions and they helped me find my way. I would come in with my essays, we would critique them, and then I would leave with a “to do” list of the specific things I needed to accomplish before next week’s meeting. Passport Admissions gave me a sense of order and the ability to see with clarity the next step on a long, undefined, pathway. But besides just helping me find organization and clear steps towards my goals, they helped me improve my applications tremendously. For example, most applications only let the applicant put down a few words about each extracurricular activity, which doesn’t really allow students to explain or share about themselves. Passport Admissions helped me to create a supplemental “activity chart” where I could really explain my extracurricular activities, helping my application become a more accurate representation of me. Without Passport Admissions, I never would have realized that I could do this as well as a variety of other things that really improved my applications. It was invaluable to have someone with experience in the college admissions arena look over my applications with a critical eye. Throughout the process, I often took my essays to other people to get their opinions, and they always said, “It’s fine.” But the individuals at Passport Admissions would really spend the time necessary to help me to go through my essays thoroughly. They would offer critique and suggestions on everything ranging from grammar and word choice to topic and main ideas, all with an emphasis on writing towards the specific audience of admissions officers. So, the most valuable aspect of working with Passport Admissions is that now, as I am waiting to hear back from the colleges to which I have applied, I have the confidence that I submitted the very best applications that I could.

I really feel that I would not have been as successful in this college admissions process without Passport Admissions. I’ve never had a more stressful time in my life than first semester of my senior year. The college process is so much more difficult, time consuming, and stressful than I ever could have imagined, and working with Passport Admissions made all the difference.

I applied to 14 colleges, and so far I have been accepted to UC Davis, USC, Villanova, the College of William and Mary, and Texas A&M with offers of a full-tuition scholarship to both Villanova and Texas A&M, as well as an invitation to compete for a $20,000/year scholarship to USC. So far, so good!"
